Resumen

El desarrollo de las tecnologías de la información y comunicaciones está modificando la cantidad y el tipo de empleo existente. Así, las máquinas han experimentado un avance tal que les permite realizar tareas tradicionalmente reservadas para las personas. Esta capacidad puede hacer que las empresas necesiten menos trabajadores. Además, Internet ha permitido ofrecer y demandar trabajo en un formato diferente al conocido hasta ahora. En este artículo, ambas tendencias son estudiadas en el sector turístico mediante, por una parte, el análisis de la actividad y plantillas de los hoteles en España y, por otra, a través de la revisión del funcionamiento de portales de la denominada economía generada por los individuos. La principal conclusión a la que se llega es la necesidad de que los trabajadores redefinan sus habilidades, competencias y conocimientos en aras de resultar una fuente de trabajo demandada
